Fleeing suspect throws out $12,000 worth of drugs

HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A suspect fleeing from a traffic stop may have gotten away but tossed more than $12,000 worth of drugs.

According to Harrodsburg Police, Cpl. Aaron Steele tried to stop a reckless driver earlier this week and discovered the driver had an active bail-jumping warrant.

The driver wouldn’t stop and threw a bag from the car. Steele cut off the chase because of concern for possible harm to other drivers, but he and officer John Blake Darland did recover the bag, according to police.

It contained approximately 10.76 ounces of methamphetamine, 4.5 grams of heroin, a glass pipe, a digital scale and a large number of distribution baggies, police said.

The estimated street value of these items is approximately $12,500.

Police said charges are pending.
