Five Flights To East Coast Cancelled From Blue Grass Airport

More than 7,700 flights nationally were cancelled because of a storm hitting the East Coast, and it is having a ripple effect here in Lexington.

Five flights into and out of the Bluegrass Airport have been cancelled as of Tuesday morning.

Four of those were to Philadelphia, one of the cities expected to be hit by the storm.

The other flight was to New York.

Airport officials recommend keeping an eye on flights, check the airline and airport.

It may be a few days before people can make it to or from the East Coast because of the storm.

One group from Kentucky did make it there.

Kentucky Utilities and Lexington Gas and Electric sent 170 employees and contractors to New England.

They will work with local companies to restore power.

This is part of a national mutual assistance program where states help each other during natural disasters and crisis situations.
