Fisherman found dead after jumping in river for swim

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say they’ve recovered the body of a fisherman who went missing after he jumped into the Great Miami River in southwest Ohio for a swim.

Investigators say 44-year-old Ronald Sprecker jumped into the water Thursday afternoon in Whitewater Township but didn’t resurface. Officials say he was caught in a current and pulled underwater.

Witnesses told police that a man jumped in after him but couldn’t save him.

The Mays Lick, Kentucky, man’s body was pulled from the river just before 10 p.m.
