Firefighters See Dangerous Teen Trend In Lexington

Firefighters said a disturbing and dangerous trend among teenagers had made its way to Lexington.

Investigators said something known as the ‘teen fire challenge’ happened Friday at a home on Appian Way.

A minor there reportedly put rubbing alcohol on his body, then lit himself on fire.

Firefighters said he was taken to U.K. Hospital.

Similar challenges have been gaining popularity across the country, and showing up on youtube.

Lexington Fire Captain Chris Harrod warned parents and teenagers, "It’s dangerous. The consequences of living the rest of your life, catching yourself on fire, catching other people and you on fire, catching your house on fire. There’s a lot of consequences involved with this trend."

Firefighters said the Lexington teen’s burns appeared to be minor.
