Firefighters blame mouse for Lexington house fire
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Firefighters say a mouse caused a fire at a Lexington home Saturday.
It happened at a home on Kilgary Circle, off Man O’ War Boulevard, around 6:30 Saturday evening.
The fire department says the homeowner was home at the time of the fire, but got out safely.
They say a neighbor got a ladder and fire extinguisher, putting the flames out.
While investigating the cause of the fire, fire officials found wires with bite marks on them. Then, nearby, firefighters saw a mouse standing at the fire’s point of origin.
That mouse is believed to have started the fire by chewing on the wires, something firefighters say they haven’t seen in years.
According to the fire department, there is minimal damage to the home.
