Fire Contained To One Unit In Apartment Complex In Lexington

A basement unit in an apartment complex in Lexington caught fire Monday evening, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

Investigators said it appeared the fire began in the closet of a basement unit at the Breckinridge Court Apartments at 420 Redding Road.

Fire officials said no one was home at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt.

Investigators said the apartment suffered smoke and water damage.

Fire officials said the people who live in the apartments in the two floors above the damaged unit would be able to stay there.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
