LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! A warm front lifts through the region tonight leading to a very warm weekend across the region. Ahead of this warm front, isolated showers and a few storms will be possible later this afternoon into the early evening. Rainfall amounts will stay generally light and some areas will even stay dry. Temperatures today will return to the mid-70s for most, with upper 70s possible in south-central Kentucky. Rain chances will decrease overnight as the warm front lifts north of the region. This will lead to the summer-like feel this weekend.
Afternoon highs this weekend will climb into the 80s for most areas. Saturday will be mainly dry but there will be the chance of a few stray showers and a storm or two, the best chance will be in northern and eastern Kentucky. Temperatures on Saturday will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s. On Sunday, skies will be clearer than Saturday leading to even warmer temperatures. Some areas in eastern Kentucky will make a run at the mid-to-upper 80s, while central Kentucky will stay in the low-to-mid 80s.
Rain and storm chances will increase early next week. Monday night into Tuesday will be the first chance of rain and storms. This will be ahead of a frontal boundary that will stretch through the region. The best chance of rain will be late Monday into early Tuesday. Unsettled weather will continue through the middle-to-late portions of next week with daily rain chances. Temperatures will stay warm as a late spring/early summer-like pattern sets up.
