Few more rain and storm chances mid-week
Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! Another day with isolated-to-scattered showers and storms in the forecast. Like on Tuesday, the best chance for these storms will be during the afternoon and evening hours. Not everyone will see rain, but those that do could have heavy downpours. The rain chances will drop off late this evening into the overnight hours as we lose the daytime heating. Afternoon highs today will be climbing into the mid-80s for central Kentucky, while southeastern Kentucky will likely stay in the low 80s.
This pattern is expected to change late Thursday as a cold front sweeps through the region. Ahead of the front you can expect another round of isolated-to-scattered showers and storms during the midday and afternoon hours. The front won’t pass until the later evening hours and that will bring us some drier air as you head into the day on Friday.
There is a small chance of lingering showers on Friday for our far southern Kentucky counties near the Tennessee border. Outside of that, most locations will be dry. Afternoon highs will be a bit warmer thanks to the drier air and partly cloudy skies. Most locations will climb into the mid-to-upper 80s. Though the afternoon temperatures will be warmer, the morning temperatures on Saturday will be quite comfortable. Most locations will start the day in the low-to-mid 60s. Saturday will be another mainly dry day with an isolated shower and storm chance for southern/south-central Kentucky.
Rain chances will return by the end of the weekend. The temperatures will likely be climbing near the upper 80s and low 90s as well. The warmer temperatures will be accompanied by muggy conditions as well. This will continue into early next week. Warmer temperatures than this week with daily rain and storm chances.
