Festival of the Horse returns to Georgetown for 40th anniversary

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – The annual Festival of the Horse returns to Georgetown this weekend. The three day festival marks the 40th anniversary.

“Our community sees it as a time to celebrate one another and togetherness,” said Lori Saunders, Executive Director of Georgetown/Scott County Tourism. “And it’s also a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase what Kentuckians love the most, horses, of course.”

Organizers say the festival will include daily live music and parades, along with craft vendors on Main Street, and even a blessing of the animals.

“There’s horse related things as well with horse games, horse shows, horse parades,” added Bailey Gilkerson, Marketing Director with Georgetown/Scott County Tourism.

Saturday, to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11, first responders and Veterans will serve as the grand marshals at Toyota’s Grand Parade of Horses.

Festival of the Horse will take place Sept. 10-12 in downtown Georgetown.
