Feeling like fall with record lows possible

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! We are getting an early fall-like feel for your mid-week. Afternoon highs today will struggle to get out of the mid-70s for most of the area. Tonight is our best chance of the week to reach record low temperatures across the region. Upper 40s and low 50s are likely for most of the area. The record low in Lexington is 49° and we will be getting very close to that number. Wednesday afternoon may be a degree or two warmer than Tuesday but still feeling very nice. A few more upper 40s will be possible Thursday morning before we begin to warm up heading into the end of the week.

Thursday afternoon we will return to the 80s. This warming trend only continues for Friday. Afternoon highs on Friday could get close to 90° in spots. The air will still be very dry so humidity won’t be a big factor for the first night of high school football. The drier air will actually help bump up the afternoon temperatures just a tad.

The weekend looks very warm across the region. Low-to-maybe mid 90s will be possible by Sunday. There is a very small chance of a shower or two across northern Kentucky on Saturday but I expect the vast majority of us to stay dry. This drier and hotter pattern will likely continue into the start of next week. We could go on a mini heatwave after this fall-like feel, so don’t switch out the summer clothes just yet!
