Feeding Kentucky welcomes new executive director

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Feeding Kentucky’s Board of Directors has announced Katrina Thompson as the new executive director.

According to Feeding Kentucky, Thompson is an accomplished executive with more than 20 years experience in the psychiatric, mental health, substance use disorder, legislative advocacy, and maternal and child health fields.

“We’re all excited to have found such an excellent candidate with a wealth of relevant
experience, and we are thrilled to have Katrina join the team,” said Board Chair Kurt Reiber. “A special thanks goes to our Search Committee, which included board members, who supported the search and hiring process. We are confident Katrina is the right leader to work alongside staff, board, and our entire state as we enter a new phase of advocacy and growth.”

Feeding Kentucky said Thompson is coming from March of Dimes Kentucky and West Virginia, where she served as the Executive Director for Maternal & Child Health and Advocacy & Government Affairs. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of the Cumberlands and a Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky.

Feeding Kentucky is Kentucky’s largest charitable response to hunger, representing
Kentucky’s seven Feeding America food banks that support more than 800 community partners including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters throughout the Commonwealth.

Feeding Kentucky reports its’ member food banks were able to acquire and distribute nearly 96 million pounds of food and grocery items last year to the 1 in 7 of our Kentucky neighbors impacted by food insecurity.
