Federal inmate asks for longer prison sentence

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- A federal inmate surprised people in a Pikeville courthouse today when he asked for a longer prison term.

A federal judge in Pikeville sentenced Christopher Parsons to nine years in prison then five years of supervised release for drug-related crimes.

Parsons said he didn’t want the five years of supervised release, though, and wanted to spend the entire time in prison.

He said he wouldn’t be able to obey the rules during supervised release.

The judge stuck with the supervised release, saying he would be back in prison if he violated the terms.
