Federal fugitive arrested in Whitley County

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – A federal fugitive has been arrested in Whitley County.

According to post on the Corbin Police Department Facebook page, multiple law enforcement agencies assisted the United States Marshals Service in arresting Christopher Lee Jones.

Officials say Jones was wanted for escaping federal parole supervision.

He was thought to be staying in a house in the Rockholds community of Whitley County, armed with multiple firearms.

Authorities say upon arrival, Jones ran from officers, escaping to a crawl space through a hole in the floor. They say Jones eventually complied, exited the crawl space, and was taken into custody.

Officials say they found a large quantity of methamphetamine, multiple firearms, drug paraphernalia, and cash after executing a search warrant.

Police also say 3 minor children who belonged to Jones’ girlfriend, Michaela Sullivan, were also in the home.

Jones was arrested and served with a federal arrest warrant for absconding federal parole supervision.

He was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Michaela Sullivan was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree criminal abuse, first offense of trafficking controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.

Sullivan was taken to Whitley County Detention Center.
