FBI: Fugitive lawyer likely still in the United States
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Authorities believe a fugitive Kentucky lawyer convicted in a scheme to defraud the government of nearly $600 million is still in the country.
Amy Hess is special agent in charge of the FBI’s Louisville office. She said Wednesday that Eric Conn’s electronic monitoring device was found Friday evening along Interstate 75 in Lexington.
Conn disappeared a month before he was due back in court to be sentenced for his guilty plea for stealing from the federal government and bribing a judge.
Hess says a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Conn’s capture.
While authorities believe Conn is still in the U.S., Hess says “we are not sure how long that will be.”
