FBI: Eric Conn spotted in New Mexico
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- The FBI has released new surveillance photos they say show fugitive lawyer Eric Conn at a gas station and Walmart in New Mexico.
In a press release issued Friday morning, the FBI said Conn made several stops in New Mexico where he was captured on surveillance video.
The FBI says there is no indication Conn crossed the border into Mexico.
This development comes after FBI agents say they tracked a truck to New Mexico they believe Conn used to flee.
The truck was found abandoned near the Mexico border.
Agents say the truck was owned and registered by a co-conspirator to a dummy company out of Montana.
Agents believe the same co-conspirator also supplied Conn with other materials to assist him.
This lead comes the same day Conn was sentenced in federal court in absentia to 12 years in prison, ordered to pay almost $170 million in restitution, a $50,000 fine and a forfeiture judgement of more than $5.5 million.
Conn disappeared in June before he was scheduled to be sentenced for defrauding the federal government of more than $500 million.
The FBI says they are actively seizing Conn’s bank accounts and going after anyone who may have helped him escape authorities.
A $20,000 reward is being offered by the FBI for any information that leads to Conn’s location and arrest.
Those with any information regarding Conn are asked to call FBI Louisville at 502-263-6000.
