Fayette records another day with less than 200 new COVID cases

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington reported 155 new coronavirus cases Thursday, continuing a string of days under 200 cases.

The new cases raised the total number since March to 21,311, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s morning report Friday. Even with the ‘low’ number, the new case totals still are three times July’s daily average and twice the daily numbers in August and much of September, which were considered high at the time.

The county recorded one new deaths, raising to 144 the number of people lost to coronavirus-related causes.

According to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s daily report, the county has confirmed 3,908 new cases and 11 deaths through the first 17 days of December.

That’s more than all of August, September or October.

• Avoid close contact with others
• Wash your hands often
• Stay home if you are sick.
