Fayette COVID numbers continue down, vaccine targets exceeded

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The seven-day moving average of new coronavirus cases fell to 120 cases while the number of new cases fell to 116 Wednesday, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department said in its morning report Thursday.

The numbers continue to indicate a slow stabilization and possible decline in the outbreak from the highs in November, December in January.

The county now has recorded 30,807 cases as it approaches the one-year anniversary of the first diagnosis.

That comes as the Health Department continue to meet and exceed targets with new vaccines.

During the week of Feb. 1, the agency received 700 first doses and gave 737, taking advantage of extra doses from vials. Since vaccinations began in December, it received 7,900 first doses and given 8,146.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department has reported the COVID-19 numbers continue to show signs of stabilizing.

According to the department, no new deaths were reported. The total number of people who have now died from the virus in the county is 211.
