Fayette County Teachers, Parents Plan Education Rally

A group of concerned citizens plans to rally Thursday evening at Wellington Elementary as part of their initiative to restore state funding to education.

The group sponsoring the rally, Fayette County Education Action Team, is encouraging parents, educators, and students to come out and voice their opinions about public funding for schools.

In a flyer for the event FCEAT says their mission is to "encourage legislators to restore and increase funding to education in this budget session. The legislature raised standards and required great changes that will make our kids competitive around the world. Now, funds are needed to invest in our future – kids!"

Fayette County legislators are expected at the rally, which takes place from 7-8:30 pm Thursday at Wellington Elementary off of Keithshire Way in Lexington.

The Fayette County Super Council will be meeting at 6 pm prior to the rally, and those attending the rally are encouraged to attend  that meeting as well.
