The caller asks people to purchase a pre-paid or re-loadable money card and then provide the ‘deputy’ with the card number over the phone to settle the fine.

Deputies say this is not coming from the Office of Fayette County Sheriff.  They remind people never to give out personal or financial information over the phone to someone you don’t know.

Anyone who receives one of these calls is asked to contact the Office of the Fayette County Sheriff at (859) 252-1771.
