Fayette County Sheriff launches annual coat drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Office of the Fayette County Sheriff is working to ensure that no one in Lexington is cold this winter. Once again, the Office of Sheriff and partnering agencies kicked off the annual citywide coat drive.

“A warm coat represents more than just a possession, it represents hope for someone who in need. We think of this season as joyous, but in truth it is hard for many people in our community. The Office of Sheriff is honored to be the light for anyone who is in need this winter. Together, we can demonstrate that Lexington is a truly caring community that listens and provides for all,” Sheriff Witt said.

Gregg Robinson, owner of Chase Dry Cleaners, has once again agreed to clean all of the donated coats prior to distribution. “This drive is a huge success each year, and Chase Dry Cleaners is happy to participate again.”

Republic Bank will utilize its five branch locations as drop off sites for coat donations. Todd Ziegler, Central Market President for Republic Bank of Central Kentucky said “Republic Bank proudly supports this worthwhile initiative in helping citizens who are in need. The Coat Drive is inspiring, and we are delighted to partner with them.”
