Fayette County Clerk Prepares for Election Day
LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ) – As the country gears up for a historic election, the Fayette County Clerk says his office is treating it like any other day.
“I think you should expected to see a normal polling location,” said clerk Don Blevins. “Everything should be pretty much standard.”
Belvins says about 240,000 people are registered to vote in Fayette County. He expects voter turnout to be about 75%, slightly higher than turnout in 2008.
“My goal is to try and keep everyone to 30 minutes or less,” said Blevins about who long he expects lines to be on Tuesday. “Can’t promise that but that’s what we’re aiming for.”
Polls will be open from six in the morning until six at night on Tuesday. As long as people are in line at their voting precinct by six o’clock, they will be able to vote.
