Father arrested after child found wandering in roadway
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel Co. Sheriff says that a man has been arrested after his child was found by an energy crew walking in the roadway along O. Johnson Road.
The Sheriff says they received the call just after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The crew had apparently knocked on the door of a nearby home, trying to find the child’s parents, but no one answered. Investigators say when they arrived they went around to the back of the home and found the door open. When they went in, they say they found 22-year-old Andrew Lebeau, the child’s father.
Deputies say Lebeau appeared to be under the influence, and that there was a strong smell of marijuana around him. Lebeau reportedly told deputies that he had been asleep, and was unaware of where the child was. The child’s mother arrived shortly thereafter, and told deputies that she had awoken Lebeau and told him to watch the child.
Investigators say they found marijuana and paraphernalia in the home.
Lebeau was charged with wanton endangerment, and possession. He was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
