Father Accused Of Killing Infant Will Go Before The Grand Jury

Testimony gives us new information in a murder case. Police say Caz Hazuga killed his one month old baby and confessed to it.

From jail, Hazuga told us he did *not* kill his child.

On Thursday morning he faced a judge and detectives had the opportunity to speak with the judge.

What a detective testified in court and what Caz Hazuga told us from jail last week were different.

Hazuga says he only confessed because he was scared police would go after his fiancée and brother.

He also says they were in the home, and asleep when the incident happened.

According to Hazuga he was feeding his baby, when the baby went limp, and later died the hospital… but says he doesn’t know how it happened.

When Hazuga confessed… he told ABC 36 that he only gave answers to police like yea, sure, and whatever you say.

The detective in court on Thursday described the confession, “his comment was I told you I slammed him on the expletive counter, and rolled him over, hit his head again, and then put him in my arms.”

The detective says the baby suffered a fractured skull, and hemorrhaging inside his head.

He says that the injuries are not consistent with Hazuga’s story.

Authorities are still waiting on autopsy results for more information.

Hazuga will stay in jail, while the case goes to a grand jury.

Hazuga’s defense and fiancée declined to comment after Thursday’s hearing.
