Fatal weekend collision in Metcalfe County under investigation

EDMONTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating a fatal collision that happened on Cedar Flat Curtis Road in Metcalfe County on Saturday, June 19.

KSP Post 15 received a call on Saturday around 7:52 p.m. from Metcalfe Couny 911 about a two-vehicle fatal collision.

Early investigations show that Nicholas Smith, 25, of Edmonton was driving a 1985 Yamaha Motorcycle eastbound on Cedar Flat Curtis Road, a narrow roadway with no dividing yellow lines.

Smith tried to make a left-hand turn off the roadway crossing the path of a 2013 Dodge passenger car, driven by Jasmine Coleman, 17, of Edmonton. Coleman was traveling westbound on Cedar Flat Curtis Road when the accident occurred. She tried to swerve to avoid the collision but was not able to do so.

Smith was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Metcalfe County Coroner. Coleman had her seatbelt on and was not injured.

Trooper Weston Sullivan is still investigating this collision.
