Fatal ATV crash in Knott Co. under investigation

TOPMOST, Ky. (WTVQ) – Troopers are investigating an ATV crash that left a Knott Co. man dead on Sunday.

Officers say they were dispatched to the scene off of HWY 7 just before 10:00 p.m.

According to Troopers, 30-year-old Charles Dwayne Keens was traveling southbound on the highway, when the ATV drifted off of the right shoulder.  Officers say the vehicle then struck an embankment, throwing Keens into a water-filled ditch line.  Keens was taken to the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers say Keens was not using a helmet.  Toxicology reports are pending.
