Teen killed in Laurel County collision

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) -A fatal accident on Hal Rogers Drive in London has taken the life of a 17-year-old.

Officers say the accident happened just before 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.  According to police, 17-year-old Jacob Downey was driving a 2003 GMC truck eastbound when he crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with a 2014 International Utility Boom truck.

Downer was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County coroner.  The driver of the utility truck, Hunter Bunch, of Oneida, Tennessee, was taken to Saint Joseph London KentuckyOne Health.  The Hal Rogers Parkway near Moren Road was closed for over three hours while the accident scene was cleared and the collision investigated.
