Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! You couldn’t ask for better conditions to end the month of May. Afternoon highs will be reaching the mid-to-upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. A lot of things happening in an around Lexington today and weather won’t be any concern. Just don’t forget the sunscreen and the sunglasses. It will be feeling very comfortable as well thanks to the drier air in place. Clouds cover increases late tonight into your Saturday morning. This is ahead of some weekend rain chances.

It won’t be a washout of a weekend but you can expect showers and a few storms to move in from the west late Saturday into Saturday night. The highest chance of rain will be late Saturday night into early Sunday morning. If you are heading to Railbird at Red Mile on Saturday, don’t forget the rain gear. The latest data suggests most of the rain will be moving out early in the day on Sunday leaving us with mostly cloudy-to-partly cloudy skies and just isolated afternoon showers.

A bit of an unsettled pattern begins to take shape next week. As of now, it doesn’t look like any day will be a complete washout. With isolated-to-widely scattered afternoon rain chances Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is the day we are watching for the rain chances to increase. Even with the daily chances of rain, we aren’t expecting a lot of rain to fall over the next week. 1-2 inches of rain is in the forecast across the region, with some isolated higher amounts possible into central and western Kentucky.

Looking at the long term pattern, it’s becoming more likely that the middle of the June will stay near-to-below average temperature-wise. This is some good news if you’re not a fan of high heat and humidity. It could be some time until we see our next 90° day.
