Fantastic Friday ahead of a few weekend rain chances

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! What a beautiful day on tap across the region. Afternoon highs will climb into the low-to-mid 80s with low humidity. Cloud cover will be increasing during the second half of the day, but the daytime will stay dry. A few rain chances start to arrive late this evening and into the overnight hours. This will lead to some isolated showers and storms over the weekend.

The weekend will stay dry for a lot of areas, but isolated showers and a few storms can’t be ruled out especially over southern and southeastern Kentucky. If you’re north and west of Lexington, you should be in the clear. Temperatures will also climb a bit into the upper 80s in spots. Humidity will slowly be increasing into the weekend as well.

Rain chances increase heading into next week as we begin a bit of a “wetter” weather pattern. Scattered rain and storms on Monday will keep temperatures into the mid-80s. Rain chances will be highest Tuesday and Wednesday, with scattered-to-widespread showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. Overall, rain totals look to be 1-2 inches widespread through the end of next week with higher amounts possible in the thunderstorms. This doesn’t look like it will be enough to cause any flooding issues outside of isolated instances. However, this will be providing beneficial rain for areas that need it.
