Fans greet Cats at airport after SEC tournament win
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- These were die hard fans who braved the chilly weather to be the first one’s to congratulate the Cats on their big tournament win.
Around fifty people waited for more than an hour outside the fence near Blue Grass Airport all to get a glimpse of this year’s SEC champs.
The team wasn’t able to greet any of the fans because they were in a hurry to get back to Coach Cal’s house for Selection Sunday but that didn’t stop the fans from having a good time.
“Even though there’s a fence and stuff like that it makes it more personal you know just to see them and just to talk with them and say congratulations,” said Rick Hackett, a UK fan.
“It’s just fun to see them how they all just are excited and kind of happy like they just won a game. So you’re going to be happy and excited,” said Madison Ramirez, a UK fan.
Many of the fans that were out there cheering on the team say they now plan on travelling to Indianapolis to watch the Cats kick off the NCAA tournament on Friday.
