Family honors son’s life with birthday boxes

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – One Winchester family is working to honor their son’s life with birthday boxes.

Sunday, August 25th would have been Marco Shemwell’s fifth birthday.

Liz and Ben Shemwell are hoping they will have around one thousand boxes to hand out.

Each box will contain cake mix, candles, frosting, a card and a toy for parents to give to their kids.

The organizers said they want to honor their son’s, kind heart.

“Marco was awesome. He was absolutely amazing. He had just a big, huge, loving personality and wanted to help people,” Liz Shemwell said.

Lexington Police say a car hit Marco Shemwell outside a UK football game, killing him.

The Shemwell’s say they hope to continue events like this one through the Marco Shemwell Foundation.
