Family and friends hold vigil for LaPorscha Stringer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – 30-year-old LaPorscha Stringer died after police say she was shot in her car outside the Fayette Mall.

Her family and friends said they wanted to host a vigil to remember the good times they spent with her.

A crowd gathered together Saturday night on the corner of Nicholasville Road and Wilson Downing Road, they held hands and prayed.

Those that knew her shared their memories of Stringer and the joy they said she brought to each of their lives.

Natoloa Weathers is friends with stringers’ mom and she said all she can think about now is stringer’s three kids.

“Our concern is the kids and that’s DJ, Trinity, and Dalen and it’s great that we all come together and we mourn her but the main thing to me is that we secure their future. That’s three kids, that’s not one individual but that’s three kids that will never get their mom back again,” Weathers said.

They ended the vigil with a balloon release.

Police say they don’t believe this was an accident and that Stringer was targeted.

They think the two knew each other.

Police say they’re asking for anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.
