FaithPointe Church gives out 300 bags of groceries to community

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The FaithPointe Church helped out the community on Saturday by giving away 300 bags of free groceries.

Pastors Terry and Theresa Lewis and volunteers could be found outside Mary Todd Elementary distributing the bags.

FaithPointe partnered with a ministry and two churches to give out close to one thousand bags of groceries across central Kentucky.

They say they chose to give out groceries because of inflation and how that has impacted people in the community.

Terry and Theresa were glad to see all of the cars that were lined up for the event.

“This was supposed to start at noon and since 11 o’clock there’s been a line of cars all the way down to the street,” said Terry. “That says two things, number one there’s a huge need here that people are looking for help and number two this is a tremendous opportunity for us to help make that difference.”

“And we want to tell them about Jesus, because he makes the difference,” said Theresa.

The Lewis’ could be seen speaking to every person that came out, introducing themselves and helping put the groceries in the vehicle, because they said it was not about titles, but about the people in the community.
