Fairness Campaign hosts Pride Panels
Titled “Can We Talk About Aging with Pride”, the focus groups are open to anyone interested, says Director Chris Hartman. He added that a variety of topics will be covered at these panels, specifically relating to the LGBT elder community. Authorities say healthcare, mental health and well being, discrimination and abuse, relationships, familial connections, as well as others will be addressed.
The schedule is planned as follows:
Friday, June 5, 8 p.m. – PLAY Dance Bar, 1101 E Washington St., 40206
Sunday, June 7, 2 p.m. – Metropolitan Community Church, 1432 Highland Ave., 40204
Monday, June 15, Noon – Gilda’s Club Louisville, 633 Baxter Ave, 40204. (Free lunch will be provided on the 15th, but RSVP is required, to Jayne@Fairness.org or 502.893.0788.)
Hartman says this is part of a multi-step process for Kentucky to acquire an affiliate with the national SAGE, Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Elders, which officials say is the largest and oldest advocacy group for LGBT older adults.
