Experience Woodworking at The Cabin of Old Town

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ): The Cabin of Old Town in Berea attracts numerous visitors each year from around the world, seeking one-of-a-kind handmade items from the arts and craft Capitol of Kentucky. Visitors can find anything from artfully crafted brooms and woodwork from The Cabin, beautiful soy candles and artwork from Copperas Mountain Candle Company, to paint-your-own ceramics from Kiln Time.  Not only can you purchase these items in Old Town Berea, but you can also meet the artist that made them.

The artist, Tim Wade, says he likes to make anything and everything from cutting boards and utility pieces to artwork. Wade even commented, “So I’ve been real fortunate to work with a lot of good artisans throughout my years of doing woodworking so I’ve just been really fortunate to be able to make stuff that people love and appreciate.”

The Cabin of Old Town is in fact located in a real cabin. The cabin is 205 years old and was originally built about 25 miles east of where it now sits. It was then donated to the city of Berea and Wade leases it from the city as an opportunity to give tourists an authentic cabin experience.  “A lot of people’s never seen one, now they can actually go in it, touch it, and experience the whole deal of it,” Wade said about the cabin.
