Expect delays driving in downtown Lexington this weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Drivers are being warned it could be slow-going if they are traveling through downtown Lexington this weekend.

The city of Lexington says fans on their way to Friday’s University of Kentucky- Transylvania University game or Saturday’s Chris Stapleton concert in Rupp Arena need to be aware of several ongoing construction projects downtown.

Travel is slow on High Street near its intersection with South Broadway because of construction there.

The Jefferson Street Bridge, which runs between W. Main Street and W. High Street, is closed for demolition. Motorists will be able to use a small portion of the bridge to drive from High Street onto Manchester Street.

In addition, Midland Avenue is down to one outbound lane and one inbound lane because of sewer construction work. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the downtown area and to factor in extra travel time.

Drivers are being encouraged to allow for extra travel time and to find a parking spot.
