Ex-Kentucky police chief’s girlfriend sentenced
LONDON, Ky. (AP) – The girlfriend of a former Kentucky police chief has been sentenced to serve 15 months on a weapons charge.
The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/2rEpYQ7 ) reports 42-year-old Rettie Morris was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in London, Kentucky. She previously pleaded guilty to selling a gun to a convicted felon.
Her longtime boyfriend, Jackie Keith Stewart, was police chief of Lynch in Harlan County in 2015 and 2016. Stewart pleaded guilty to possessing a gun to further a drug crime and was sentenced earlier this year to five years in prison.
A federal indictment had accused Stewart and Morris of conspiring to distribute crack cocaine, methamphetamine and the opiate replacement drug Suboxone, along with the weapons charges.
