Ex-high School Coach Pleads Not Guilty to Child Sex Charges

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – A former assistant basketball coach at Bowling Green High School has pleaded not guilty to child sexual-assault charges.

The Bowling Green Daily News (http://bit.ly/2hpdDcu ) reports 24-year-old Houston Bunton was charged Tuesday with first-degree sexual assault and third-degree sodomy of a 15-year-old student. He entered his plea on Wednesday.

Bowling Green Independent Schools Superintendent Gary Fields says the charges were filed after someone came forward to school administrators Tuesday.

Bunton was an instructional assistant and assistant basketball coach. He resigned Tuesday before his arrest.

Bunton’s arrest citation says a teenage boy told investigators he was assaulted while visiting Bunton’s home.

Police spokesman Officer Ronnie Ward says officials are not aware of there being other alleged victims.

Fields says the school system does not have a policy against students visiting teachers at their homes.
