Events in Louisville mark anniversary of World War II end
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The 70th anniversary of the end of World War II is Friday, and events are planned this weekend to commemorate the occasion.
Several University of Louisville units as well as the Kentucky Historical Society, the Frazier History Museum and others are sponsoring events at Bowman Field in Louisville.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT Saturday, exhibits, demonstrations and entertainment will be provided to evoke memories of Louisville during World War II. Vintage military equipment, vehicles, aircraft and other items will be on display. Recordings will be made of people attending who remember the war to save for future generations.
A canteen dinner and dance will be held in the evening. Admission is $45.
Honor Flight Night will be held Sunday at VFW Post #1170 in Middletown. Admission is free for veterans and their guests.
