Evacuations in parts of Clay City due to flooding

CLAY CITY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Emergency Services of Powell County is preparing to evacuate people who live in the Main Street area from McKinney’s to the Red River Bridge and the bottoms due to flooding.

The National Weather Service is expecting the Red River to reach 23-feet Thursday night.

The combination of flooding and below zero overnight temperatures has led to the opening of shelters for people who need a warm, safe place to stay.
