Evacuations after gas line rupture in Knott County

PINE TOP, Ky. (WTVQ) – A gas line rupture in Knott County Friday evening led to the evacuation of people who live within a half-mile of the leak, according to State Police. The rupture occurred near the junction of KY 582 and Steer Fork Road in the Pine Top community, according to KSP.

A section of KY 582 is closed as of this writing. Traffic is being diverted from KY 582 onto KY 1393, also known as Branhams Creek Road, according to State Police.

People are being asked to avoid the area.

The cause of the gas line rupture is under investigation, according to State Police.
