Estill County firefighter facing several charges

IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Irvine police accuse an Estill County firefighter of theft, and pointing a gun at someone.

According to court documents, 27-year-old Christopher Neal is accused of buying an emergency vehicle from someone in Maryland, in January of 2019 – claiming it was for the Estill County Fire Department. But police say Neal put the vehicle’s title in his own name.

According to the documents, the seller wouldn’t have sold it, knowing it was going to Neal. The vehicle included emergency equipment and official license plates.

The documents say when someone found out about the purchase, in March, Neal pointed a gun at that person and threatened the person’s life.

Neal is also accused of selling emergency lights, meant for city vehicles, in late 2017 or early 2018 – something he wasn’t authorized to do.

Neal is charged with wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, official misconduct, and theft.
