Equipment accident causes KY 7 in Magoffin County to close indefinitely

JACKSON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Due to an equipment accident at KY 7 in Magoffin County, the road has been closed indefinitely.

An excavator with a drill attachment has overturned and fallen into nearby power lines. Until the electricity utility can assess the situation and the excavator can be safely removed, the road will be closed at milepoint 16.1.

This area is just south of KY 1471, or Half Mountain Road and is close to three miles south of Royalton and eight miles south of the Mountain Parkway.

Drivers should use KY 404 and KY 114 through Floyd County as an alternate route until the road is reopened.
