EMS worker critically injured in Nicholasville
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – An EMS worker was critically injured Thursday night after being hit by a car, according to Nicholasville Police. Investigators say the ambulance the worker was riding in, stopped around 7:15 p.m., after its side mirrors hit a truck’s side mirrors.
Investigators say when paramedic John Mackey got out of the ambulance to check for damage, he was hit by a 17-year old driver at the corner of Main Street and Maple Street in Nicholasville. Police called the EMS worker’s injuries life-threatening. He was rushed to UK Hospital in Lexington.
Mackey has been employed with Jessamine County Emergency Services since 2003.
