Emma Curtis files to run for District 4 Lexington council seat

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Emma Curtis has filed to run for District 4’s Lexington council seat.

The District 4 seat is currently held by Brenda Monarrez.

Curtis’ main priorities include affordable housing, economic prosperity and improved safety.

“I’m running because our district deserves a Councilmember who’ll show up, do the work, and stand for working families. I believe public service is about serving the public, not about serving yourself,” Curtis said in a press release.

She joined the race with nearly 200 signatures of the required 100.

All 12 of Lexington-Fayette County council districts are up for re-election this year.

Curtis ran an unsuccessful campaign for the once-vacant Kentucky House seat previously held by Lamin Swann.
