Elderly woman dies of hypothermia in Grayson County

GRAYSON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – An elderly woman is dead after falling into a ditch Sunday in Grayson County.

According to the Clarkson Police Department, the body of 94-year-old Helen Haycraft was found in the 200-block of East Main Street in Clarkson around 1:30 p.m.

Police say Haycraft fell into a ditch that had a small amount of water in it and could not get back out.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grayson County coroner.

They believe she had been dead for about three hours before she was discovered.

The coroner says Haycraft died from hypothermia due to exposure.

Haycraft lived less than 200 yards from where she fell.
