Eddie Sutton named finalist for Hall of Fame induction

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – Long-time basketball coach Eddie Sutton has been named one of 14 finalists for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Sutton retired with 804 career wins and led four schools to the NCAA Tournament. He reached the Final Four three times, twice at Oklahoma State and once at Arkansas. He also coached Creighton and Kentucky to NCAA Tournaments.

He was also a four-time national coach of the year and was chosen conference coach of the year eight times.

The finalists will need at least 18 votes from the 24 member Honors Committee for election into the Hall of Fame. The inductees will be announced April 4 in Houston during the NCAA Final Four.
