Eckert’s Orchard celebrates 1st year of peach crops with Peachy Palooza Fest

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – This weekend was the perfect time to get outside with family and friends and what better place to enjoy the good weather than at a family farm.

Because it is peach and blackberry season…the Eckerts Orchard in Versailles held its Peachy Palooza festival Saturday and Sunday.

The event allowed you to pick your own peaches and blackberries at the farm and if you bought a pound of blackberries, you got to pick a  pound for free.
There was even a sunflower trail to enjoy.

The general manager of the farm Megan Fields says this is the first year they have had a crop of peaches at the new orchard and are just excited to see everyone enjoying the experience.

“We do take pride in having picking areas so people can experience where their food is grown, and you know Georgia is known for their peaches, but Kentucky is known for peaches as well and so this is the first year that we’ve had a crop in this new orchard they’ve just planted and so we are excited that people can come out and pick on the farm” said Fields.

The two day event also included kids activities that ranged from a children’s playground, petting farm, rat races, push pedal carts and treats.
