Eat hearty, and send ‘Team Kentucky’ to 2016 Transplant Games

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two Lexington restaurants want to get ‘Team Kentucky’ to the 2016 Transplant Games.

The games are part of an international competition that helps raise awareness about the importance of organ donation.  There are all sorts of events, including running, bowling and table tennis, to name a few.

A key feature of the Transplant Games are its participants: all of the athletes are living donors, donor families and recipients.

Sallie Wilson, the Team Leader of Team Kentucky says, “You know they participate in games just like Olympians do and really work hard at it, so these people that were once laying on their death bed are now living full active lives and participating in these sports.”

The Transplant Games happen in June in Cleveland.

To help Team Kentucky on Wednesday in Lexington, all you have to do is eat at Noodles & Company on South Limestone, or City Barbeque on Harrodsburg Road.

25 percent of all purchase will be donated to the team.  You must present a flyer to participate.  You can download and print out the flyer for City Barbeque here: Fundraiser Flyer_CityBBQ2016

The flyer for Noodles & Company can be found here: Noodles fund raiser
