DUI arrest after driver hits Laurel Co. home

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man walked away from a wreck right into a pair of handcuffs, after crashing into a home in Laurel Co.

The Laurel Co. Sheriff says 44-year-old John Paul Sizemore was arrested Wednesday afternoon just after 1:00 p.m. on Hawk Creek Road, after deputies were called to the location on a report of the crash.

Investigators say Sizemore was traveling northbound on the road when he veered off the left side, hitting a mailbox first and then the house.

Deputies say Sizemore walked away from the accident, and that they found him about 300 yards away.

Deputies say they were able to determine that Sizemore was under the influence, and say he admitted to smoking marijuana the night before.

Sizemore was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
