Drying out on Thursday

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! Early morning rain exits today, giving way to clearing skies the rest of the day. Temperatures remain near average today, peaking in the low 80s for most. A secondary boundary sweeps through late this evening and that will bring the shot of dry and mild air for Friday. There is a slight chance of a shower or two during the late afternoon and evening today as that boundary sweeps through. Most locations stay dry and everyone will reap the benefits of the pleasant conditions to close out the week.

Friday’s forecast doesn’t get much better for early June. Afternoon highs will only reach the mid-70s with mostly sunny-to-partly cloudy skies. Dewpoints will be in the low 50s and upper 40s, closer to a “fall-like” feel as opposed to early summer.

As we head into the weekend there will be a few isolated rain chances but temperatures will remain mild into the mid-to-upper 70s. Saturday will be mainly dry with a few showers possible south and west of Lexington. While Sunday has a slightly higher risk of seeing a few showers and a storm or two late day. Weak systems will try to swing through the region but won’t have much moisture to work with. That will help limit the rain chances.

We are expecting a brief dry stretch heading into early-to-mid next week. Temperatures will start next week below average once again, in the upper 70s and maybe low 80s for some. We aren’t expecting to get out of the below average temperatures trend until mid-to-late next week.
